Since he’s arrived in St. Cloud to play for the River Bats this summer in the Northwoods League, his bat has stayed consistent. Recently, it’s been very hot. “We didn’t have any consistency with our practice. We had to practice inside the football building for a long time. The travel we had was physically and mentally wearing. But you had to try and overcome that stuff. I tried to be ready to play every day,” said Henkemeyer, who graduated from Sauk Rapids-Rice High School in 2009.
“I’ve just tried to stay consistent with practice since I’ve been here. I had a slow start to the spring season, but I picked it up in the second half and it’s carried over to the summer.”
Henkemeyer has really thrived since he was put in the leadoff spot about 10 days ago by manager Jon Hansen.
