The new look Miami Marlins kick off the 2012 portion of their home schedule with a game tonight against the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals. The game is the first of the new Major League season to be played in the U.S., as the official opening of the season was last week in Japan when Seattle played Oakland.

Payne says 1.4 inches of rain fell on the course during Tuesday night's storm, and conditions today remained "extremely wet." He says work will go on around the clock and that he expects the course to be "restored to competitive conditions" by the end of the day.
Payne was also questioned about the addition of a woman to the club's membership. The topic was brought up because the newest CEO of IBM is a woman, Virginia Rometty. The last four presidents of IBM, a corporate sponsor of the club, have been invited to be members.
Asked to expand on his refusal to comment, Payne gave two reasons: "Number One, we don't talk about our private deliberations. Number Two, we especially don't talk about them when a named candidate is part of the question."
He did not say whether Rometty was that specific "named candidate."
