Lady Jackets sink Seasiders

After building a 35-19 lead in the first half, the Montana State Billings women's basketball team managed to hold ending their five-day Hawaiian trek with a 67-54 win over Brigham Young University - Hawaii Monday night.

After four games in five days, the Yellowjackets are now 8-5 before and tip off Great Northwest Athletic Conference action after the holiday break. The Seasiders fall to 1-8.

"I feel like we played well tonight, especially in the first half," said head coach Kevin Woodin. "I felt like we created some very good transition buckets through our defense and rebounding. You have to give them (BYUH) credit as they came back in the second half, cutting our lead to three but I also have to give our players credit because they fought hard to regain momentum and finished strong."

The Lady Jackets hit 25 of their 76 shots (33%) from the field. Neither team shot well from three-point range, combining for just six. But the Yellowjackets registered 27 points off the Seasiders' 25 turnovers compared to 18 points off of 19 Yellowjacket turnovers for BYUH.

Kayleen Goggins and Bobbi Knudsen paced MSUB with 17 points each. Goggins had six rebounds while Knudsen had seven rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Janiel Olson had a team-high 10 boards while Quinn Peoples corralled in nine.

BYUH was slightly better from the field, hitting 36% (19-53) of their shots. Shayla Washington had a game-high 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds for a double-double while Brianna Jessop added 11 points. Danyele Hoffman had a game-high seven assists.

BYUH kicked off the game on a 9-5 run through the first five minutes, but from there it would be all MSUB in the opening stanza as the Yellowjackets scored 24 unanswered points until six minutes remaining in the half. The ‘Jackets continued to outscore the Seasiders 11-8 over the final six minutes, but the second half would once again see a slow start by MSUB.

"To play four games in five days and come out 3-1, it was very physically exhausting but good for our young players, especially ending with this win. After some good rest over the holiday break, we will be ready to jump into conference play."

The victory serves as the last non-conference matchup for MSUB, which will enjoy a break until the 29th. Then it's league action against Saint Martin's University Thursday, Dec. 29, before Western Oregon University travels to Billings, closing out the 2011 portion of their slate with a 1 p.m. tipoff on Dec. 31.

Specialty camo effective during late-season hunt

According to that gun-totin,' guitar-playin' Texan Billy Gibbons, "the whole world's crazy about a sharp-dressed man."

While sharpness can be a matter of debate and taste, it's a fact that being well dressed for hunters who participate in Pennsylvania's late deer seasons means wearing apparel that makes them difficult to be seen. That means, for those who enjoy the challenge of spot-and-stalk hunting, having some type of snow camouflage in their wardrobe.

With Pennsylvania Game Commission regulations making the wearing of fluorescent orange optional for flintlock muzzleloader and late-season archery hunters, wearing snow camo - when combined with scent control and wind-direction awareness - can be especially effective for spot-and-stalk hunting. Unfortunately, when it comes to snow patterns, good camouflage is hard to find (pun intended).

As effective as snow camo is in winter conditions for both late-season deer hunting and snow goose hunting in the open, rather than a blind, the demand is limited. As a result, there are few choices available from major manufacturers.

Ever since bowhunters began wearing World War II surplus camo, rather than the traditional tweeds and wools, the manufacturing of camouflage clothing designed for hunting has become an industry onto itself. Like so many products whose development - from aircraft to those "tasty" freeze-dried meals - have grown by leaps and bounds because of military use, the design of camo clothing has resulted in products being produced in a seemingly endless variety for specific hunting situations.

There are camo patterns for hunting from a treestand in hardwoods (with or without leaf cover); there are camo patterns for hunting in a swamp or marsh; there are camo patterns for hunting in pines; and there are camo patterns for hunting in open terrain, from the waving seas of grain to sand-covered deserts.Great Promotions on Greatest Purchase San Francisco Giants Franchise Fitted chloehandbags Shops.audemarspiguetdiverreplica produced during the 1970s and early 1980s did feature quartz movements, As if these choices are not enough, there are even patterns designed to resemble the skin of various animals and reptiles.

While there is no debating the effectiveness of camouflage when used properly, minimizing movement and masking human scent is just as - or even more - important than blending into the landscape.Buy wholesale new swissetareplicawatches-blog products on TradeTang. If there is one exception to this, it is when the landscape is covered in snow.

Here again, one needs only to watch one of those WW II documentaries on the History Channel or the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers" showing troop engagements during the Battle of the Bulge to see the effectiveness of snow camouflage.

As most snow camouflage clothing is usually cut larger than other types of hunting apparel, military surplus and off-brand camo on the Internet is risky. Trying before buying is the better choice,The great selection of wholesale breitlingstore at TradeTang. and the two major brands offering snow patterns are Realtree APS and Cabela's.

Realtree offers a reversible Sherpa hooded jacket and coverall bib set, with one side its standard AP pattern and the other its AP snow pattern. Both pieces each retail in the $150 range, which makes a set a bit pricey for those needing only snow camo.

Cabela's offers a range of snow camo hunting apparel from cover-up jackets and pants that can be worn over all types of cold-weather clothing - from ski and snowmobile suits to wool and camouflage hunting clothing - to outer wear that stands on its own. In addition, the line has accessory items, such as facemasks for protection from wind and rain.

For those looking for cover-up clothing, they have the choice of Cabela's Lightweight Coverup Parka and Pants or Cabela's Waterfowler Outfitter Waterproof Coverup Parka and Pants.Best ralphlaurenhoody Have you spent a lot of time looking for the best replica watch for you? Depending on the size and style, the sets retail for less than $100, and the waterproof line is a better choice than homemade cover-ups out of fabric that freezes when it gets wet in cold weather.

Both the Cabela's Waterfowl and Waterproof Canadian Coverup lines feature a variety of outer-wear choices. Its Waterfowl line has a Cover Jacket, Cover Pants and Cover Bibs, with a jacket and pants/bib set retailing for approximately $120; and the Canadian Coverup line featuring the same choices with a set retailing for approximately $200.

For late-season bowhunters and flintlock hunters, nothing compares to the challenges of their special time of the year. And, there's "snow" better way to meet those challenges than wearing camo that's hard to find.

Clothesline review: Winter weather wonder wears

There are four qualities important in a vest: wind resistance, water resistance, packability, and fit. The P.Offering a huge selection of chanelwatches online store are selling great quality replica watches.R.With the boom of guess canadagoosejackets1 boutiques,O. Aero vest passes all with flying colors.redbullhats cartier mens pasha seatimer watches. $110 is a bit ridiculous for a vest though; is this thing really worth it?

Depends on which of those four you place the most emphasis on. Fit is my first priority with a vest, an item I often only throw on for long descents. Long descents mean high speeds; high speeds mean any flappy bits are even more annoying than usual. As a pretty lean guy (let's just call it "racer build"), I'm continuously at war with flappy clothing.

If you, like me, have a "racer build" and hate flappy clothing, the P.R.O Aero vest is worth every shiny penny. It uses a stretchy material and race-cut fit to drastically reduce flaps and folds. Even the collar is tapered to fit the neck better when in an aggressive position.

Amazingly, that stretchy fabric still provides entirely excellent wind and water protection. This isn't a thermal vest: it's just one thin layer, but for keeping wind out that's all you need. It easily adds 10 to any garment setup.Market rolexuhrenshop feedback Forum Talk. I add it to thick thermal gear to provide some wind protection, or to a jersey and shorts to make an early fall descent a bit more comfortable.

Packability is second to none. Some vests can get really tiny if you sit down and carefully fold the thing,Buy monclerouterwear from top rated stores. but when wadded up in a fist they take up quite a bit of room. The Aero vest scrunches up tiny and stuffs easily in a pocket.

Speaking of pockets, the P.R.O. Aero vest doesn't have any. That's my only problem with it. But I'm always wearing something with pockets underneath, so it's not really a big deal.

Yorktown Woman's "Love in Action" Helps Local Families

Surrounded by jackets and shirts on racks, as well as bags and bins filled with children's clothing, Donna Simone-Sofo pointed at the items that had been donated to her through the non-for-profit organization she founded, Yorktown Love in Action.

The organization provides families with clothes, furniture, and other basic services. It was founded in April 2011 to help local families who are struggling to make ends meet. Simone-Sofo was originally storing clothes and furniture in her Yorktown home,Most plasticmold can ship the same day FREE via Ground shipping. but eventually she had to move the donations into a storage room.

"I just want the word to get out there that people can help each other," the Yorktown native said.

The woman has been helping families for years and has housed several in her home. She paid for gas, brought clothing and food for a woman who had lost her daughter to cancer. There was another woman who had cancer herself and was out of work, and Simone-Sofo paid her car insurance, electric bill and plans on giving her firewood for the winter.

A few years ago, Simone-Sofo said she received a call from her daughter who had seen a woman wandering the street and asked her if they could help her.Buy breitlingstore online at Goldsmiths quality jewellers. They did. Not knowing anything about the woman, who had an alcohol problem, they had the woman live with them for two years.

With the bad economy, Simone-Sofo said more people are struggling to make ends meet. Although communities in Westchester County are considered affluent, there are people who can barely afford to live in their houses due to illness or unemployment. Yet, people don't know what their neighbors might be going through.

"People in Yorktown don't want to admit that something happened to them and they can't pay their bills," she said.Thirty pages into the book omegawatches has not done anything recently. "People are embarrassed."

The 56-year-old mother of two, who was a single mother four years ago, was out of work for two years at some point when her son had a severe illness.

"I know what it's like but I always knew I was going to be OK," she said.

Four years ago, she married Frank Sofo, a man she had known since they were 11 years old and were growing up in Yorktown. He is also involved with the organization.

"Donna is a very complex lady, though her personality leads you to believe otherwise," her husband said. "People who meet her, are instantly drawn to her. After a short period of time, uhrenwatchesvendor and water purifier sales environment search. you will come to love her, like so many others have and probably never know the exact reason why. They will say she has a loving personality, kind, caring and compassionate to all, with a zest for life."

Simone-Sofo, who also works as a CPR instructor and ballet teacher, said she gets her motivation from seeing the faces on the kids when she brings them clothes or food. She lovingly calls the people she helps her "families."

"Knowing it's making their life easier and we're here for such a short time," she said. "It's not about me enjoying what I have, it's about me enjoying giving to people who don't have something."

She is also a volunteer at the Lake Mohegan Ambulance Corps and said if she sees an accident, even if she's on her way to work, she would stop to help out.

"That's the way I am," she said. "I can't pass on people who are hurting."

Simone-Sofo credits her parents for "always helping" anyone who needed them. She said her mother, who passed away from cancer two years ago, was "full of life" and would have been proud of what she is doing.

Frank Sofo said her desire to reach out to people is not something that was taught, rather it's something in her. The organization is now looking for someone to give them a storefront at a cheap price, so they could store all the clothing and furniture they receive as well as sell them at an inexpensive rate to the families that need them.

Most importantly,High quality replica replicauhrensalesonline of well known brands . Sofo said, the donations and money raised would help your neighbors as Yorktown Love in Action is geared toward helping people in the community.

Simone-Sofo said in the few months Yorktown Love in Action has existed, she has helped close to 26 people. She said she is working on recruiting more volunteers and getting the finances to help even more people.

"Our goal is thousands [of dollars] a month, so I can help everyone is Yorktown," she said.

If you'd like to donate slightly used clothing, foot wear, household goods, toys, baby items, automobiles and furniture, call 914-490-3966 to schedule a pick up or a drop off. You can also make a one-time monetary contribution or sign up to become a monthly sponsor.

"I love everybody," Simone-Sofo said of her choice to call the organization Yorktown Love in action. "It's really my heart in action."
